The 1950‘s Legendary Archtop is Back and Better Than Ever!
This gently used Gretsch G9555 New Yorker Archtop Electric offers us the rare opportunity to go back in time and experience the electric guitar in its purest, simplest and perhaps most elegant form. The original New Yorker Archtop was incredibly popular among guitarists in the 1950‘s for its distinctive tone and easy playability. This re-release of the classic New Yorker is faithful to the original, capturing the distinctive tone and playability of the legendary New Yorker so many guitarists and collectors love.
The Grand auditorium body with arched solid spruce top, laminated maple sides, and arched back is highly resonant, graced with a vintage two-tone sunburst finish that not only looks great but actually enhances the tone, producing a rich and deep tone that you can only get from an auditorium body archtop.
The vintage V-profile mahogany neck with a padauk fingerboard is gorgeous and really easy to play. Featuring a vintage single coil pickup, classic ebony bridge with trapeze tailpiece, Grover Sta-Tite geared tuning machines and a single vintage volume control, the Gretsch G9555 New Yorker Archtop will leave you shaking your head saying, “They don’t make ‘em like this anymore!” Apparently Gretsch does.
