Active Electronics and Superior Tonewoods Make The Stingray 4-String a Modern Classic
Introduced in 1976, the Classic StingRay was the first bass to feature active electronics and advancements such as a 6-bolt neck joint, contoured body, superior neck truss-rod system, and rock-solid bridge, all of which added to the Ernie Ball/Music Man’s reputation for quality that continues to deliver today. The flagship of the Music Man line, the Left Handed StingRay 4-String Bass is basically the same as it was over forty years ago when it captured the hearts and imaginations of bassists everywhere, virtually transforming the industry.
The Left Handed StingRay Classic 4 in Classic White high gloss polyester finish features a lightweight but resonant double cutaway Ash body with a 34“ scale, 11“ radius select Maple neck with a 21-fret ebony fretboard in a gunstock oil and hand-rubbed special wax blend finish that couldn’t be more comfortable and easy to play.
The magic of the left Handed StingRay’s vaunted tone comes from its active electronics. Featuring the the ever popular Music Man humbucker with Alnico magnets in the bridge position, the Lefty Classic StingRay 4 has a 3-band active preamp that you can control and adjust using its 4 control knobs: vol, treble, mid, bass. When the StingRay was introduced in the 1970‘s, this level of tonal control was revolutionary, and it has become standard among Music Man’s vaunted line of basses.
